The wonderful wizard of Ji Xiaoping
She has always been painting, never stopped; She has always seeking in her own world, never got lost. Ji Xiaoping is a painter with undeniable reputation, unaffected by the outside circumstance, a person who can tell her life experience by fully using her painting language and a practitioner who knows how to respect traditions and at same time make innovations.
Standing in front of Ji Xiaoping’s painting, you can feel all the elements in her painting are growing calmly, without showing any joy and pain, or any obsession and aggression, but audience can feel every taste of life in it, the artist is telling us story with an elegant and poetic attitude. Whatever the story is experienced or in expectation, the paintings are expressing a detached dignity and satisfaction. And each theme is filled with her soul and sympathy. The adept technique and inward talent consist her creation.
Xiaoping is also a watcher; she brings us to feel her mental world with her painting brushes and her self-cultivation. She is building up her own wonderful wizard, in which the hurt heart can be consoled and look for brightness again. The eyes of horse, the status of flowers, the graceful birds in her painting, are all expressing some untold destiny. We don’t have time to be angry, don’t have the ability to complain; we can’t resist or reconcile, we can only insist with patience and grace. The faith doesn’t allow us to betray our heart and initiation. The land and sunlight are always there, we can hide from the big wind or rain in a corner of flowers; we are not lonely, an embracing is better than any words and letters are more than any word. How can we be lazy in the journey? Let painting to speak for painting and let life to fulfill life.
As a poet and an artistic director who has run a gallery for several years, what I want to say most is, in an era like this, it is worthwhile to have a painting of Ji Xiaoping, who keeps a separate space for our heart, where it is related with love and with the destiny of art.
