I've never been to Tibet, however I could experience a pure, shining and yet tranquil ambience of Tibet through LIU Yuan's painting. Under the clear sunshine, Tibet not only wash up my eyes, but clean up my spirit. From this point of view, I would like to suggest that LIU's fondness of Tibet associates with an affection,the love for Perfectionist Beauty, as well as a persistent pursuit for Life and Art.

I can easily sense humanity and benevolance from her painting, and this feeling relates to her Buddhist theme in her painting. Under her brush, the work of Buddha Flying to Sky expresses a human's harmonized warmth, rather than dipicting the departure of mundane solemn. She pursues the love in reality, rather than release of departing world. I would regard her as an idealist with spirit of universal love, rather than a pursuer of aesthetism.
It has no wrong to position LIU Yuan as an aesthetism, as her painting seems as if the silent gaze after summer afternoon, flashing light full of aspiration like flower blossoming quietly, while there is no manifesto, neither showing off or exaggeration, or even without slow pouring down. Those swaying soft clothes, accompanied with vivid flower under Buddhist light, naturally bloom along with her painting brush. She only paints her truely inner feeling, keeping her own style in such colorful painting field.

You may find a tender yet splendid ambience in LIU Yuan's life, as she possesses many of woman's strengthes,such like gentleness and closeness,however she also owns a natural generocity. It probably relates with her blood as she was born in a well-educated family. It results in her inner heart accessible to a profound spiritual world, which abandons the mundane things...... This might be her destiny, as well as a fortune leading her to the path of art.

I was impressed by her quietness and religious clarity when I first met LIU Yuan at an art exposition in Shandong Province. I read a kind clarity of rhyme that has been long wished, which is fertile and brilliant. From that moment, I could attest that her creation could originate from far remote Dunhuang, or from the clear sunshine in Tibet. Nevertheless, her creation never flows to a commonaility, but a harmony between historical emotion and present affection. Since being aquinted with her for a while, I can better understand such harmony between her painting and her life.
I reviewed her recent book titled Washing Painting of Autumn's Snow, and I was fortunate to appreciate all of her spectacular paintings personally. Her book seems like a miraculous snowing world in Tibet, as well as a contemplation on the profounding history of Dunhuang. More importantly, We could sense such a universal love with purity, that is the utmostly precious treasure in life.
